It has been a busy few months. Students in our class have been busy learning to read and write. We will be finishing our study of short vowels next week. So far this year students have had 46 sight words introduced in class and on their spelling tests. During the last week of classes before the winter break, students will be reviewing all sight words. Their spelling test will be 15 words selected from the list of sight words you will be given at Parent Teacher interviews.
As well, students have been looking at Seasonal Changes in Science. We have been studying how animals adapt to winter conditions. BRRR! Please mark your calendars. December 19th is our Winter Concert. Students have been busy during their music classes preparing a wonderful gift of song for you this season. Make sure you bring your cameras!

Welcome to our classroom blog. We will be posting important information and learning throughout the year.
Mystery Colour Experiment - Students have been experimenting with colour mixing. Given a shade of orange, the students were asked to mix primary colours to make a colour close to the given shade. Ask your child about what they found out. I Belong.... Today we began a discussion about all the places students belong. We found out that we belong to families and friends, home, sports and activity groups, school, Woodlands, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and the World. We were able to find Woodlands School on Google Earth. In Math, students have been exploring numbers. We can make numbers 5 different ways. Ask your child to show you how to make the number fifteen in different ways (tallies, place value, pictures, tens frames, numbers). We will have a spelling test on Friday. We have been learning about the -at family. (cat, bat, sat..) as well as the sight words, at, is and you. Please take some time to review the words weekly. |
